New Jack 11/18-11/19

Joining us were Trent, Nick, Dane, and the Wilkins Brothers.

We arrived just after dark, set up camp and built a fire. The wind hit us hard throughout the trip but the guys did very well! We studied Isaiah 1 and had a time of worship just before a night hike.

The following morning we made breakfast and coffee while we prepared to begin a day of climbing, the guys were stoked to get out on the rock!

Trevor Sended His first outdoor lead!

<-Trent beasted his way up the crag!

And yes the other Wilkens Brother->

Don't Forget Dane!

A Fresh Start

We began as two guys that had the desire to turn our love for people and passion for the outdoors into a ministry that would mold the sport of climbing into something that would be shared across both the church and the secular scene. Almost over a year ago I started bugging my high school youth pastor into letting me lead a group of students on a climbing trip. However, whether I had the proper ability to do so or not, it was impossible to achieve do to insurance reasons. I was forced to work independently. Every other week I would introduce someone else to the sport trying to get people excited about the possibilities. My focus was just to get the word out. Taking friends who had never been hiking out to box springs, Idyllwild, and other places. Slowly my gear rack grew and I was able to take more and more people out at a time. Soon my closest climbing partner, Davis took an interest and partnered with me. After about nine months of random trips and talking we decided we needed a better way to organize the trips. I threw up a facebook group and called it Yahweh climbing. At the time I had no idea it would begin heading down the road it is today. We now have enough supplies to support a fair amount of people who have no gear at all and I, as well as my Davis are in the process of getting mountain rescue certs. We are now able to focus less on advertisement and more on the reason why Yahweh came into being. To use climbing and creation as a backdrop to start conversation, grow relationships, and share the gospel. -Cooper-
